MACRA / MIPS support
Make MIPS part of
your practice’s operating plan.
Connect reporting preparation with day-to-day practice workflows. Plan the data, documentation and coordination behind your MIPS process for your practice.
Service scope to discuss
A structured path from participation review to reporting readiness.
Review participation
Start with the practice’s eligibility information, structure, performance year and applicable reporting pathway.
Map measures and data
Coordinate a measure and data-source inventory with the practice’s clinical and EHR teams.
Identify gaps early
Track missing information, workflow questions and documentation needs with assigned owners.
Organize reporting evidence
Maintain a readiness checklist, supporting documentation and a calendar for agreed milestones.
Coordinate submission
Define who prepares, reviews, authorizes and submits information, and retain confirmation where included in the scope.
Review and plan ahead
Review available feedback with the practice and identify workflow actions for the next reporting cycle.
A practical engagement
Turn requirements into a working plan.
Define the reporting pathway, responsibilities and supported activities before beginning the engagement.
- Participation review and reporting-readiness summary
- Measure and data-source inventory
- Milestone calendar with responsible owners
- Documentation and exception checklist
Understand the program context
MACRA established the Quality Payment Program, which includes MIPS and Advanced APM participation. Traditional MIPS covers Quality, Cost, Improvement Activities and Promoting Interoperability. Eligibility, pathways and requirements must be checked for the relevant performance year.
Program context: CMS Quality Payment Program and QPP measures and activities. Review year-specific guidance before acting.
Questions practices ask
Clarity before
the next step.
Are MACRA and MIPS the same thing?
MACRA is the legislation that established the Quality Payment Program. MIPS is one way clinicians participate in that program. They are related terms, but they do not describe exactly the same thing.
Does every clinician have to report MIPS?
No. Eligibility and participation rules apply. The practice should confirm the relevant clinicians, reporting structure, performance year and pathway using current CMS information.
Can you guarantee a score or payment adjustment?
No score or payment adjustment should be guaranteed. Outcomes depend on applicable rules, reported information, performance and CMS determinations.
Who submits the data?
The engagement must specify the submission method, authorized party, review process and final sign-off. Confirm any registry or EHR dependencies and fees before contracting.
Which reporting pathways are supported?
Confirm the team’s actual experience and contracted scope for Traditional MIPS, MVPs or any other applicable pathway during discovery. A general MIPS service description does not establish support for every pathway.
